They Have Our Backs

Our Arm in Arm Delegation is able to make the impact it does for one very clear reason many people don’t even know about...We go a lot of places most Americans (and even South Africans—black or white) would never go!

Violence, disease, unsanitary conditions, and political unrest await when we venture into some of the poorest and most crime-riddled Townships. People have died here because of the color of their skin...or their country of origin...

But we do this under the eyes of an army of  protectors. They stand on barriers so they can see what’s happening around us. They position themselves in front, behind and squarely in the middle of our group. They greet us at the airports, they drive our buses, they guard the doors of homes, and they make sure each of us is accounted for.

They do that, in part, because the food and supplies we bring with us represents some of the key life-sustaining resources for their communities. Some of their names are Bongani, Sakhele, Sibusiso, Norma, Mzwanele and Xolani.

Without them their could be no “Arm in Arm” presence here. To each of them we are grateful!
