The distribution of food parcels has been at the heart of
Arm in Arm’s services since our beginning in 2000

With food parcels providing a relief in their budgets, parents can redirect their expenses to utilities, school tuition and uniform costs.

Meanwhile children can concentrate on school work without the distraction of hunger.

In addition, AIAIA funds food for Unakho Orphanage in Barcelona, a township near Cape Town which is home to 40 children.

Arm In Arm In Africa purchases and distributes locally sourced food parcels quarterly to residents in Gugulethu (a Township near Cape Town) and in the Eastern Transkei region, Malungeni and Sowetho. Food parcels contain essential ingredients to prepare family meals: cooking oil, flour, sugar, rice, beans, samp (a local grain) and frozen chicken.

The recipients assist in determining which households are most in need while AIAIA Board members in South Africa, Olga Xapile and Spiwo Xapile, oversee and track the distribution of food.
