We invite you, your friends, family, and neighbors to join us for Arm in Arm in Action, a spectacular hour of learning and entertainment on Saturday, July 17, starting at 12 noon CDT. Meet the people whose lives you have impacted with your support of AIAIA and rejoice to the music of South African singers and dancers, as well as top talent from the Twin Cities.

Here are just some of the people scheduled to appear in our 60-minute virtual gala.

INTERVIEWS (scheduled to appear)

  • Fr. Michael Lapsley, founded the Institute for the Healing of Memories after suffering devastating injuries from a mail bomb intended to halt his work for justice during apartheid

  • Zethu Xapile, healthcare leader overseeing COVID response in Gugulethu and other townships

  • Madlomo Nikisi, a recipient of AIAIA’s food parcels in Malungeni

  • Mongezi Maqokolo, speaking on the cultural challenges of men receiving food support

  • Thandeka Mandikizela, Malungeni elder welcoming all on behalf of the township

  • Marlene LeRoux, Creative Director of Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre, and prominent activist

  • Dr. Spiwo Xapile, AIAIA Board member and key organizer of our ‘on the ground’ operations in Soutth Africa

  • Youth Delegates who have visited South Africa as part of AIAIA’s annual delegations


 

T. Mychael Rambo Emmy Award winning actor, vocalist, arts educator and community organizer.

Ashley Dubose most widely known for her hit single, "Intoxicated", and for her participation on The Voice.

  • The children of Itipini, who are living at the Touching Acts Boarding home, in a safe, nurturing environment with access to quality education

  • Ashley Dubose, Twin Cities singer and former participant on NBC’s The Voice, accompanied by dance artist, Alanna Morris

  • T Mychael Rambo, AIAIA Board member and performer extraordinaire

  • Brittany Delaney, spoken word artist performing a bespoke piece for the show

  • Enzo La Hoz, St. Joan of Arc youth member reciting Amada Gorman’s The Hill We Climb

Arm in Arm in Action is designed to inform, stimulate, and entertain our audience. We have prepared a discussion guide that you can download upon registering to watch our program.
