A Genuine Embrace
We all share and need moments of tenderness, a pat on the back, a gentle squeeze of one’s hand, a hug good night. Tonight at dinner, a discussion arose around how often hugs can feel quick, obligatory, and lack the desired depth of meaning.
The hugs we receive here in South Africa are more than a hug; they are tight and long and truly feel like one is opening their eyes to see you, their heart to know you. It’s a vulnerable type of embrace that at first might come as a surprise, and then makes you feel wholly accepted and loved.
Next time you go in for a hug, we encourage you to really sink into it; listen, see, feel and truly cherish the one you’re embracing.
