An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life...
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
dentonlund-ascension"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf will win?"
The old chief simply replied,
"The one you feed."
Day Nine
After a long journey we have arrived at the Transkei area of South Africa at Malungeni.  Our friends greeted us with warm smiles and strong hugs. We already feel at home!
Throughout the drive today we had several hours to reflect as we passed miles of beautiful landscape speckled with shanties which brought us back to the reality of the poverty existing throughout South Africa.
Fifty kilometers from our destination we stopped to view Nelson Mandela's home. Ironically, several children came out of curiosity to see who was stopping. We were happy to say hello and share a Mother Bear with each of them. We felt Mandela's spirit!
Our final stop before Malungeni was at a grocery store in Umtata to purchase four days worth of groceries. Imagine the attention of the locals we attracted!
We divided the rest of our supplies (medical, baby clothes, Mother Bears) for delivery the next couple of days.
We have a very busy weekend here and look forward to seeing everyone from the community.
Peace,
The 2014 Delegation
