Teach Us To Share

Native American Prayer for Peace

“Oh, Great Spirit of our Ancestors, give us wisdom to teach our children to love, to respect and to be kind to each other so that we may grow with peace of mind. Teach us to share all the good things that You provide for us on this Earth. - Amen.

The AIAIA delegation will complete our first week with our South African families and friends. One of the many benefits of being in SA and learning from their history of apartheid, is to hopefully embolden us to return to the US more determined to do the right thing and “teach our children to love, to respect, and to be kind to one another.”

The wisdom we wish to impart to our children must be apparent first in the adult members of our community, in particular within our political leaders. In South Africa, we see and feel the painful results of “legally” separating people from one another in the name of religion and/or politics.  May we in the US learn from the ongoing painful lessons of apartheid. May we grow with peace of mind and be willing to share all good things.
