Today we delivered various medical supplies to Mitchell’s Plain outpatient clinic which sees an estimated 45,000 patients per month. Mitchell’s Plain has outpatient services in mother newborn care, emergency medicine, and chronic disease management. One of the highlights of our visit was to the maternity ward where midwives deliver approximately 400 children per month with an average stay of 6 hours per delivery. It was here that we were able to deliver some of the hand-made “Mother Bears”. Our next visit was to the local senior center where we shared stories and learned about their life in South Africa-getting a glimpse of how the elderly are cared for in this country. We left the seniors with the gifts of hats and scarves for their upcoming winter season.   Visit our Flickr page for more photos
