Pride

Gugulethu Township is located on the Cape Flats and situated 18 KM southeast of Cape Town. The definition of Gugulethu in Xhosa stands for “Our Pride”. Much of our day was spent visiting homes in the townships. We were all welcomed into the private homes of people that were recipients of our first food distribution. It was here that they proudly showed us their homes, introduced us to their families, and expressed gratitude for the food parcels. One of the consistent themes through each of our visits was strength of the Grandmothers. They are the foundation of the family. Many of these woman lost their own children and were left to provide their grandchildren with nutrition, housing, and education. Visit our Flickr page for more photos
