The Front Door
An excerpt from Carter Woodson's, What About the Front Door?
"If you can control a person's thinking, you do not have to worry about their actions. When you determine what a person shall think, you do not have to concern yourself about what they will do. If you make a person feel that they are inferior, you do not have to compel them to accept an inferior status, for they will seek it themselves. If you make a person think that they are justly an outcast, you do not have to order them to the back door. They will go without being told; and if there is no back door, their very nature will demand one."
The AIAIA delegation have begun a few days to reflect on our experiences in South Africa and to prepare for our return to Minnesota. So many new friends and so many lessons learned. My hope and prayer today is that our United States learn from the results of apartheid in South Africa. I do pray that there be a dramatic increase of energy and commitment among our citizens to be more willing to open doors and less distracted around placing our energy in building walls. May we have the courage and wisdom to learn from the immoral decisions of the past. In gratitude for the support and prayers of our families at home....
